Schools rugby semi-finals stage set
The stage is set for exciting semi-final action in the BSP Schools Rugby 15s Championship across three different venues.
Organisers summed up day one of the competition on Tuesday as a step towards improving grassroots rugby and providing an avenue for future national reps and providing an opportunity for some to build a career in the sport.
In the U-18 Boys quarter finals on Tuesday, Leififi College hammered Don Bosco College 51-0, Wesley College proved that they mean business when they plummeted Chanel College 60-5, Leulumoega Fou College beat Church College Pesega 36-20 and in a close encounter, Palauli College scraped through 15-13 over Palalaua College.
Leififi, Wesley College, Leulumoega Fou and Palauli will be in action in the semi-finals at Wesley College Field on Thursday.
The U-18 girls quarter finals were also full of excitement. Savaii Sisifo College beat Leififi 24-5, Wesley College beat Faleata 40-0, while Aana No.1 College had to dig deep to beat Church College Pesega 10-5 and Itu O Tane piled 56 unanswered points against Falealili as the game was stopped 10 minutes into the second half.
Savaii Sisifo, Wesley College, Aana No.1 and Itu O Tane College will play their semi-final matches also at Wesley College.
In the U16 boys, Palalaua, Ito O Tane, Church College Vaiola and Nuuausala have made the semi-finals. These matches will be played at Church College Pesega.
They will be joined by Aana No.2, Itu Asau, Sagaga and Savaii Sisifo College in the U16 girls semis.
All the U14 action takes place at the Punaoa Technical Institute Field on Thursday. In the boys division, Avele, Church College Vaiola, Don Bosco and Church College Pesega have made it.
In the girls, Sagaga, Itu O Tane, Leulumoega Fou and Savaii Sisifo College will take the field.
