Between the Lines

VALIDITY

Can someone whose election has been declared void still represent the government and hold official talks? Talks are happening with an airline in the Land Down Under, and an elected official who is no longer elected is reported to be in the meetings alongside the top legal advisor.

DISPARITY

Why the disparity? How has a report filed by family members of an elected official been processed within weeks, while a complaint against them is still being tossed around like a hot potato? The law is supposed to be equal. Can you guess why?

REQUIREMENT

Along with matai title, village council and political party endorsement, the eligibility requirement to be an electoral candidate will now include a drug test. How will that be possible? It is yet to be explained.

PARKING

Cameras in parking areas could be something the police should look at. A number of incidents where parked cars have been damaged have come to light. The perpetrators cause the damage and run away.

ALL DAY

FOOL’S DAY

April Fool’s Day is next week. It is also the day many of our young university students will be graduating. It will be a real graduation, do not be fooled by the date.
