Between the Lines
VARIABLE
It looks like future trips by leaders of other nations will be planned better, and this time the variable will be considered in the equation. The past two have not been pleasant.
SCHOOL MONEY
The word is that schools will have to register with the district councils to get their school grants, which have already been delayed. People are asking why there was a need to involve the district councils when the education ministry was already doing a good job.
LEAKS
Why is there so much focus on who is leaking information to the media? More reports are emerging of government departments under investigation for passing information to the media. If everything were fine, there would be no leaks.
INEPENDENCE
A three-day holiday awaits government departments in June, with an estimated $5 million to be splashed for celebrations. It would be interesting to know where this money comes from. Some say the district council will be asked to fund contingents from their own constituencies.
BINGO
The bingo locations in several villages enjoyed a good crowd in the last week. The bingo players have thanked the government for the handouts. It looks like the $150 is not going into school shopping.
MARKET
Who gets to occupy the stalls at the new $30 million market? The answer from the government is confusing. Within 20 minutes, two different answers were given. It was said it was first-come, first-served, then minutes later, it was said that priority would be given to those who were vendors in 2016 when the fire happened.
