BREADFRUIT

There is an increase in people taking fresh produce that does not belong to them. A group of people known for selling cooked breadfruit were spotted taking heaps of breadfruit from someone’s vacant lot in Vaitele. The group approaches families and requests a few breadfruits for $20 and ends up filling four to five sacks.

BUS TERMINAL

From next week, there will be heavy traffic in town with the Savalalo bus terminal undergoing construction. New rules are that Savalalo will be designated for buses operating from the East and South areas only, while Fugalei Bus Depot will accommodate all buses operating from the West. There will be no access for taxis and private vehicles within the bus depot areas.

ASSAULT

No movement in an assault case reported to the police three months ago because the police officers who are witnesses are dodging giving statements to the investigating officer. The report is against one of the first sons, and unlike what is claimed, the incident happened on the roadside.

DOGS

Overseas Samoans have learnt that warnings about watching out for the dogs are serious. A young man who decided to take a morning walk realised how different Samoan dogs are from the ones overseas.

SEASONAL WORK

Concerns are rising that Pacific Island nations may be too dependent on remittances, as temporary worker schemes in wealthier countries become more popular.
