Between the Lines

SIGNS

More and more people seem to have lost civic pride. The new signs where more than $170,000 had been invested for villages are being uprooted and thrown around.

THAT SHOP

It is a wonder that there are no violent incidents outside a shop in Vaitele as up to 20 to 30 people can gather on a Saturday just to sit outside and drink beer.

ONE ISSUE

These beer drinkers keep to themselves and are mostly calm before they finish and catch the bus home. The only issue is there are no public toilets so most end up urinating in public.

GUNS

Another man was shot to death and the archaic gun laws have not been changed. The bigger question is how illegal guns keep coming into the country. Make haste and set up that big scanner, please.

STRANDED

The immigration department may want to have a look at a village close to the wharf. There are more than just a few overseas folks who are stranded on the rock because of the company they work for.

GOOD JOB

Good to see police officers on foot patrol in town areas, especially along Beach Road. This does a lot in deterring crimes, perhaps setting up smaller posts in high crime areas could do well.
