Vailele EFKS dominates Teuila cricket tournament

The Vailele EFKS women’s team has secured top spot in the women’s division of the Teuila cricket tournament after they downed Molilaauifogaa in the final.

The captain of the Vailele EFKS’s Women’s team, Frister Lemanu said that she is very proud of both their teams’ achievements in this year’s Teuila cricket competition.

“Our hard work has paid off and we thank the Lord first for his guidance and blessings because he’s the one who has rewarded our blood, sweat, and tears with this joyous result for Vailele EFKS,” said Lemanu.



“Every day for the past three months we’ve been coming to the Tuanaimato cricket grounds to hold our daily training. We want to thank our coach and mentor Rev. Siaosi Salasulu for the prayers and putting up with us over the past few months."

In the men’s division, Vailele EFKS A defeated Fetuao from Ti’avea in a very close match to see who was the best men’s team in this year’s Teuila competition.


Sililauga Taitoe Kaisala of the Vailele EFKS men’s team was also awarded the Best Batsman Award throughout the play-offs their opponents were all very formidable teams.

"Firstly I'd like to thank the Lord for rewarding our sacrifices and hard work with the victory here today, we knew we were up against other elite teams but we gave it our best and thankfully we have achieved the result we wanted," said Kaisala.

“In the first Semi-final play-off, it was a hard one but we managed to defeat Alafua by 55 runs.

“In the championship match against Fetuao, we batted first and scored 146 runs off 20 overs with 8 wickets. Fetuao tried chasing our score of 147 to win but thankfully stopped them at just 56 runs from 14 overs."


The best Batter award was awarded to Sililauga Taitoe Kaisala of the Vailele EFKS cricket team while the best bowler award was won by Maulupe Seiuli of Fetuao.

Samoa International Cricket Association’s representative and the director of this year’s tournament acknowledged the sponsors of this year’s tournament: Samoa Commercial Bank, Samoa Stationery and Books (SSAB), Seb and Rene Sports shop, Vailima Breweries. 

“Your generous support enables Samoa Cricket to enhance its Teuila Festival Village Communities Trophy 2021 preparations and successfully completed the tournament for this year, without it we wouldn't have had a fantastic tournament. Faafetai tele lava and thank you very much for your support and we will be back again next year,” she stated.
