Peace Chapel claims U-15 cricket title
Peace Chapel B has claimed the under-15s Boys title for a 3-day cricket competition that saw three private schools battle it out for the top spot.
Peace Chapel Primary School's B team took top spot in the Boys division after defeating seven other teams, while Mt. Zion Primary School's B team are this year's U15 champs for the Girls division.
Samoa International Cricket Association representative, Ms. Kalala Tanuvasa stated yesterday that during the running of the tournament, they saw a high level of skills displayed by the participating schools.
"There were 4 schools initially planned to vie in this tournament. However, Vaiala Beach School was not able to field a team. Even so, we are very pleased with what we've witnessed from the competition, it has improved from previous tournaments. When international cricket was first introduced to schools six years ago, kids were slow to pick up on how to play. But as the years progressed, we have seen a lot of improvement not only in the participation numbers, but the level of skill as well," she said.
The coaching staff of Peace Chapel relayed yesterday, "We are happy that we won the Boys division and that our boys listened to the advice we gave them and performed very well. Our A team and B team battled in the final, and we told both teams that no matter who wins we are proud that they've made it to the final."
Logologo Esera who won the best bowler award, was instrumental in the finale for Peace Chapel B. He said that he wants to play for the national team in the future. "I believe that this is my God-given talent, and I should use it not only for the benefit of myself but I also want to represent Samoa in the future," said Logologo.
