Palauli College from Savaii face the home team Wesley College in the U18 final of the BSP National School Rugby XV Championship on Saturday. They know they are the underdogs, but also know that sometimes even the favourites fall.

Palauli College have made a return to rugby after being banned for a year due to a fighting incident.

Head coach Vaipou Taavili Tasi said his team was ready to take on Wesley College. He understands that their last game is going to be tough.

"Starting from the first day on Tuesday, we've had a few players who were injured. Some have recovered while others are still recovering. We have our last run today (Friday) at 3pm. We prepared for this event with our 100 per cent effort," he said.

"Last year, we were banned, none of the players were affected by this incident. From that, we learned from our mistakes, now that we are back in the tournament, we will use the opportunity well. Our dream was to be the champions in Savaii and hopefully win here as well. In Savaii, we also had our camp, parents, and teachers assisted our students. We had two trainings in a day while in Savaii."

Palauli College also hopes that there could be a consideration in taking this tournament to Savaii for a change. He believes that there are a lot of expenses going into the preparation.

"That could be a great change, that perhaps if this year's championship is done here in Upolu, maybe they can take it to Savaii next year. Who knows, this could be an opportunity for some of the students here to see Savaii and meet their families there. My goal is for my team to develop their rugby skills so they can get selected for our national squads. If not, take their talent to the next level. It is a great opportunity for these players to showcase their rugby skills and talents."

Members of their committee said they were really happy with the outcome of all their team's performances. According to the committee, they fundraised to assist with their trip to Upolu. They did bingo as well as wheelbarrow races to help out with the school's preparations.

They also acknowledged the help from Samoa Stationery and Books, who visited them at their campsite at Laumua o Punaoa. They came with food and a $1,000 tala cheque to help with the school's trip and expenses.
