Youth leaders in China
Samoa Youth Advisory Board co-chairs Jasmine Koria and Tito Malupo Taufao have officially commenced their participation in the 2025 Program for Youth Representatives from Pacific Island Countries (YRPIC), a three-week immersive leadership and cultural exchange program hosted in Guangdong Province, China.
The program kicked off Monday evening with an opening ceremony, bringing together emerging Pacific leaders for cross-cultural learning, international dialogue, and skills development.
Jasmine and Tito joined fellow delegates went on a guided tour of the Sun Yat-sen University History Museum, located at the prestigious university campus on Monday.
The museum houses a remarkable collection of historical archives, pioneering medical and scientific instruments, photographs, memorials, and original post-war syllabuses — a testament to the university’s legacy in China’s economic, scientific, and geopolitical evolution.
Jasmine and Tito expressed deep appreciation for the experience. “It’s inspiring to be in a space that has shaped so many critical moments in China’s development,” said Jasmine.
“Being here reinforces how important immersive, on-site learning is for young leaders from Samoa and across the Pacific.” Tito added, “We’re very grateful for this opportunity. Our hope is that more Samoan youth in the future can participate in global learning experiences like this — where history, leadership, and cultural understanding intersect.”
Their presence not only represents Samoa's commitment to nurturing future leaders but also highlights the importance of equipping Pacific youth with global perspectives to navigate and contribute meaningfully to an interconnected world. The Samoa Youth Advisory Board is proudly supported by the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development, as part of its commitment to youth leadership and development.
