Samoa's youngest lifter Sieni Stowers secured two gold medals at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in Suva on Friday.

She is competing in the 76kgs. She set three records for the Commonwealth Youth and Oceania Youth.

Samoa now holds six gold medals and one bronze.

A few lifters are left to take the stage. In an interview with Samoa Observer, the 15-year-old from Fa'ala Palauli and Saasaai said she was grateful and blessed with the outcome of her first Commonwealth Championship.

"I feel relieved for what I have achieved. It's not like you just sit and then automatically get rewarded with a gold medal. It all comes down to hard work and being resilient and consistent with my training," she said.

"It was a tough journey for me to get here but I thank God for his guidance and protection. Without Him, I couldn't have done this. Shout out to our country, friends, families and everyone supporting us from home.

"My preparations were not based on one thing,  I prepared for it physically, mentally and spiritually. There were times when I had body aches but I still wanted to continue to push myself. This sport is all about your heart.

"My advice is if you have the talent for weightlifting, grab the opportunity now. I got into this sport because of my sister Feagaiga Stowers. I loved playing rugby. When I saw how tough it was for my sister to do this sport, I thought maybe I would try it out and see. And here I am, loving the sport and embracing it."

John Tafi was blessed to secure Samoa's first gold. Nevo Ioane received a bronze medal. Sieni Stowers won two gold medals, Avatu Opeloge won a gold medal and Jack Opeloge won a gold medal as well.
