The Pu'apu'a Congregational Christian Church of Samoa has dedicated their last service of the year to the church’s main choir in recognition of their hard work in 2020.

The church service took place on Sunday according to Rev. Aperaamo Tufuga of the Pu'apu'a C.C.C.S., who said that there are two choirs which are the Sunday school and the adults.

He clarified that every last Sunday of the year they acknowledge the contribution that the main choir puts into the church services throughout the year.

“This is what we do every year, the last Sunday of every year. We contribute this last service to acknowledge and appreciate the effort that the main choir puts into the services every Sunday throughout the year so we celebrate the effort," Rev. Tufuga told the Samoa Observer.

The elder's choir, which consisted of the high chiefs of the village, sang during the final church service of the year which attracted up to 50 people.

“It was one of the happy times for them, our congregation. We still look forward to the service and it's become one of the main events for our congregation every year," added Rev. Tufuga.

According to Rev. Tufuga, the last service is one of the most celebrated days in their church and has been practised for 40 years by their congregation.

He said it was a day where they all came together to celebrate and look back over the last 12 months of the year. 

“And that’s why when this day finally arrives it's really appreciated by the people,” he said.

Last year the celebration was done but was not as big but this year, despite the impact of the COIVID-19 pandemic, the celebration turned out well and gave the Christmas spirit to the congregation members.

Rev. Tufuga added that if we look at the pandemic and what it has done worldwide, a lot of lives have been lost and it has brought uncertainty to people.

But when things like this happen, this church service unites people and brings happiness and installs and grows one’s faith.
