The Chief Public Solicitor and Assistant Attorney General (Civil Litigation and Opinions Division), Letoafaiga DJ Fong, has resigned from his role.
Letoafaiga is one of the most senior and longest-serving lawyers in the office, having served for 10 years.
It was also revealed in the Supreme Court that Letoafaiga had resigned during the matter to discuss proceedings regarding the $100,000 settlement offered to Tuiloma Laniselota Lameko by Toelupe Poumulinuku Onesemo to withdraw his election petition.
Letoafaiga was acting as amicus curiae or a friend of the court, an independent advisor for the matter. The court was informed that this was also the reason he was stood down from the matter.
