Samoan triathletes secured gold and silver medals at the Oceania Regional Cup in Palau, with strong performances in both the elite men’s and elite women’s divisions.

In the elite men’s race, Tyreece Collins won gold. He was followed by David Robati of the Cook Islands, who took silver, and Rynier De Ramos of Guam, who earned bronze.

In the elite women’s race, Samoa’s Manamea Schwalger secured silver, behind gold medallist Lily Muldoon of the Northern Mariana Islands, while Olivia Postrzygacz of the Cook Islands took bronze.

A statement shared online by Triathlon Samoa featured a message from Lani Young, Samoa’s Secretary General and Team Manager for the campaign, who was also present at the Cup in her role as Vice President of Oceania Triathlon and as a member of the Competition Protest Jury. She praised the work of officials and volunteers and the event's success.

She said, “Officials and race marshals make triathlons possible,” adding that she was impressed by the Belau Triathlon Technical Officials team, led by Technical Delegate Peter Aldrige and Head Referee Lynette Sarry, with support from Stephen Damien, the Oceania Regional Coordinator.

Young also acknowledged Belau Tri President Leah Asanuma Gillham as a strong leader who, together with her executive board, mobilised more than 60 community volunteers to help ensure athlete safety in both the water and on the road.

She described the Oceania Regional Cup as a success and said she was grateful to be present, noting that she was “watching and learning heaps” while being a small part of the event.

The team representing Samoa at the 2026 Oceania Regional Cup in Palau on 21 March included Tyreece Collins, Crisroch Euta Levale, Urlin Mulitalo, and captain Manamea Schwalger. The squad was coached by Ray Reupena and managed by Lani Young.

The team also attended the Oceania Regional Development Camp in Palau, which began on 16 March.

Efforts to get a comment from the two athletes, Manamea Schwalger and Tyreece Collins, were unsuccessful as of press time.
