More than 14K visitors recorded in February

There were 14,372 arrivals recorded at the ports of entry in February 2026, a decrease of 36.2 per cent over the previous month of January 2026 and an increase of 7.3 per cent over the corresponding month of February 2025.

Those who travelled to Samoa by air represented 93.3 per cent while 6.7 per cent travelled by sea, according to the latest figures released by the Samoa Bureau of Statistics.

Overall visitor numbers for the month under review stood at 10,295 revealing a decrease of 36.3 per cent over the previous month of January 2026 and an increase of 27.6 per cent over the corresponding month of February 2025.

Visitors made up the largest component of all arrivals with 63.5 per cent (9,128), represented by 32 per cent males (4,594) and 31.5 per cent females (4,534). Male returning residents made up 14.4 per cent (2,066) of total arrivals while their female counterparts made up 14 per cent (2,011).

New Zealand remains the leading country in visitors’ arrival by country of usual residence accounting for 48.3 per cent of total visitors or 4,974 visitors. Australia followed next with a distant 18.8 per cent share (1,936).

The United States of America reported 10.1 per cent (1,040 visitors) while American Samoa reported 4.4 per cent (450) of total visitors.

As usual, the Oceania region had the highest share of total visitors with 78.3 per cent, followed by America with 10.5 per cent. Asia reported a share of 7.1 per cent while Europe reported the least share of 3.4 per cent.

The principal source markets namely New Zealand, Australia, American Samoa and the United States of America constitute 81.6 per cent of all visitors visiting Samoa in February 2026. The majority of visitors (4,550) entered our shores for holiday and vacation while 3,709 entered our shores to visit friends and relatives.

Air New Zealand carried the highest share of passengers to Samoa with a 39.5 per cent share (5,677 passengers) followed by Fiji Airways with a 32.1 per cent share (4,609 passengers). Samoa Airways brought in 9.1 per cent (1,313 passengers) of total arrivals while Talofa Airways and Qantas recorded shares of 5.4 per cent (771) and 3.7 per cent (533) respectively.

The majority of visitors (59.4 per cent or 5,848 visitors) reported staying in private accommodations or with relatives while 30.9 per cent (3,045) stayed in hotels..
