A letter has been written to the Lands and Titles Court to stop the bestowment of the matai title Tuisinavemaulumoto'otua on New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.

The letter was written by To'omalatai Lepili Feagaimaalii To'omalata'i's son Feagaimaalii Bruce To'omalatai Uta'ileuo.

Feagaimaalii told the Samoa Observer that Sinave and Ulumoto'otua are sacred places belonging to Alo o Sina, which is led by To'omalatai and Seumanutafa of Apia.

He said the Faletolu and Vainalepa do not have the authority to do such a bestowment using the names of these sacred places belonging to the To'omalatai family of Apia.

Feagaimaalii said they were not informed about a title bestowment using these sacred names belonging to their family.

He said his father, who is currently in New Zealand, To'omalatai Lepili, urgently told him to put a stop to this bestowment because these are sacred places which all descendants of To'omalatai and Seumanutafa have the right to.

The title is to be bestowed on Luxon during a special ceremony planned on Monday. He arrives in the country on Sunday.

Sinave is located at Lelata and Ulumoto'otua.
