Poutasi District Hospital officially launched its Electronic Health Record (EHR) system on 5 February 2026, completing the rollout of digital health records across all district hospitals in Upolu.

The Ministry of Health said the system strengthens everyday clinical work by providing clear patient histories, consistent documentation, safer prescribing and follow-up, improved coordination during referrals, and reliable data to guide service planning and improvement.

Additionally, the system also helps frontline teams deliver care to their communities, ensuring information is captured accurately and available when needed.

The ministry thanked its partners, including Beyond Essential Systems for technical guidance and Go Live support, as well as the World Bank, DFAT Australia, and MFAT New Zealand, for their continued support in strengthening district-level digital health capabilities.

Health staff at Poutasi District Hospital, along with ICT and Health Information Systems teams, were praised for their patience and adaptability during the transition.

The ministry emphasised that the milestone reflects collective effort, steady partnership, and a shared commitment to strengthening health services in Samoa.
