Local referees picked for Oceania 7s
Local match officials, Shone Semeli, Alan Aiolupotea and Hani Isamaeli will be officiating in the Oceania 7s taking place in Solomon Island in early December.
They shared their excitement of being part of the regional whether as touch judges or referees. They are excited for the opportunity to represent Samoa in the circle of match officials. They believe the road to being selected was not easy.
Shone Semeli was overwhelmed and said this was another way to enhance his skills and to learn more from other match officials.
"I cannot explain how happy I am as these opportunities are rare and it's really hard to get them. I am excited as it is another step forward for my match official career. This is very important to my career and I would also be carrying the name of our country. It is a pleasure to serve our country through this calling," he said.
For Hani Isamaeli, this would be her second international tournament to attend. Her first international tournament was in Australia.
Alan Aiolupotea is the head of the referee association in Samoa. He will also be joining Shone and Hani at the Oceania 7s in the Solomon Islands in December.
