Misa Atapana has received the perfect Father's Day gift which will greatly support him and his family.

He won the first-ever car his family owns.

The 65-year-old was the winner of the Vodafone Samoa’s “Win with Vodafone” promotion which was also part of commemorating the telecom’s fourth anniversary, intending to give back to the community.

As the first car his family has ever owned, Misa Atapana has received the perfect Father's Day gift, one that will tremendously assist him and his family.

In addition to celebrating the telecom company's fourth anniversary, the 65-year-old was the winner of Vodafone Samoa's "Win with Vodafone" campaign, which aimed at giving back to society.

Mr. Atapana from Matautu, Falelatai drove away with a brand new 2024 Hyundai Creta GL 5-Seater on Friday after he successfully spun the wheel to win the car prize.

For the other four participants who did not win a car, they received brand-new phones and other accessories.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Mr. Atapana said in an interview that this was the most unexpected and blessed event of his life.

“Among millions of others, to be selected as the lucky winner is truly a blessing, and for that, I am just so grateful and thankful,” he said.

“Everyone knows that I am unemployed and that I farm; my family and I subsist day to day off of my harvest and the assistance of families who live abroad. This car will be of tremendous assistance to us.

“My family would be surprised as well as my village to see me returning home in a car and not by bus as our family’s usual commute.

Atapana, a local farmer who has been the sole provider of income for his family through agricultural produce, expressed excitement about surprising his wife and children by taking his brand-new car home.

"I was unaware of this promotion, and the data bundles I frequently get is the $20 tala Malo bundle, which I believe is what gave me a chance to enter the weekly drawings and ultimately win the car. 

“I never thought it would be enough to get to this point and to win a car but I guess I got lucky and I thank God for his blessings upon me and my family.

“We didn't plan anything special, but I think bringing my kids and wife for a ride in town would be the best fathers day treat for our family.

Mr. Atapana  expressed his gratitude to Vodafone Samoa for its unwavering commitment to its consumers, particularly with regard to the major reward of a car.

“Words cannot explain how thankful I am to the CEO and all the staff at Vodafone Samoa for this great gift,” he said.

“This is something all of us participants will always remember for the rest of our lives. Each of us get to take home gifts for this fathers day and we thank you Vodafone

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Samoa, Rana Bose said that it has always been their intention to give back to the community continuously.

According to Mr. Bose, this promotion received a staggering 5.1 million entries from loyal clients, demonstrating the enormous success it had.

"To give back to the community that has embraced and supported our journey, this promotion was created to commemorate Vodafone Samoa's fourth anniversary," he said.

Over the years Vodafone gave various winners vehicles as the main prize from its promotion.
