China gives $50,000 to Campus of Hope
The People's Republic of China Embassy in Samoa stepped in to offer financial assistance to the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) Campus of Hope with a donation of $50, 000.
Chinese Ambassador to Samoa Chao Xiaoliang said this was an effort to strengthen ties between Samoa and China.
“I have often thought about what else I can do. Upon hearing that the SVSG is short of funds, I decided to donate $50,000 on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Samoa,” he said.
“Moreover, the Chinese medical team will also provide free medical services for the children again. The Chinese government attaches great importance to safeguarding the rights and interests of vulnerable groups, and the Chinese Embassy is also committed to doing more practical things for vulnerable groups in Samoa.
“I hope this funding can make the SVSG operate better, provide a more trustworthy and reliable environment for the children, and strengthen our friendship.”
The Campus of Hope also has learning programs that have the children learn the Chinese language and put on a spectacular performance for the visiting party.
One of the guests shared a remark that he was surprised at how well the children could pronounce and say the words in the poems and songs performed.
Mr. Xiaoliang said this is an ongoing relationship between the embassy and SVSG that they would like to continue it further into the future.
“Our friendship is not created out of thin air, but based on the fruitful cooperation between China and Samoa. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the cooperation between the two countries in various fields has been continuously strengthened," he said.
“As Chinese President Xi Jinping said, amity between the people holds the key to sound state-to-state relations. Only with intensive care can the tree of friendship and cooperation grow luxuriant.
“I do hope that the SVSG and its blessed people can pass on our love and friendship, making the tree of friendship between the two peoples evergreen. The Chinese Embassy will also continue to provide support to you within its capabilities.”
