Tofiga back to laugh with locals
Samoan comedian based in New Zealand, Tofiga Fepuleai is in the country and will be “laughing with the locals” in a solo show on Friday night at Taumeasina Island Resort.
The funnyman posted on his official Facebook page in December informing the public in Samoa that it is his first time back to the motherland since the Covid-19 pandemic emerged.
He added that he is looking forward to “laughing in the 865” on the evening of Friday 6 January. Attempts by the Samoa Observer to get an official comment from Tofiga were unsuccessful.
Tickets to his show are being sold at the Taumeasina Island Resort reception for SAT$60 per adult and half the price for children.
The last time Tofiga hosted a show in Samoa was in 2019, also at Taumeasina called “sorry bout it” which brought the house down.
The comedian got the audience got the audience into fits of laughter at the time, sharing jokes about his relationship with his three sons, aunty Tala’s ongoing search for Mr. Right, and his uncle’s classic sarcasm.
After close to 14 years of performing comedy with the Laughing Samoans featuring his Eteuati Ete around the world, Tofiga went solo around 2017.
In an earlier interview with the Samoa Observer, Tofiga said performing solo is different and a lot of work.
“It’s been funny writing my show because I just laugh at my own jokes,” he said. “When writing with other people you can get feedback and bounce ides of each other.
“But because I’m writing and talking to myself I sometimes test my jokes on my wife and most of the time she doesn't laugh at my jokes. Hahaha.”
Tofiga is from the villages of Safotulafai, Saleaula, Papa Sataua, Falealupo, Sagone and Fasito’o-uta.
