Families of police officers have raised concerns on social media over threats being posted online against the Ministry of Police and Prisons after a live video by the Chairman of the Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (F.A.S.T), Laauli Leuatea Schmidt on Thursday.

An account posted on social media on Thursday evening that tomorrow (Friday) the fate of Police officers in Samoa will be decided and allegedly threatened to shoot any police officers.

The post caught the attention of the police officers' families and they voiced their fears.

"Police officers are humans too. They are only doing what they were sworn in to do. Let the law take its course and we sit back and pray for a better Samoa," said Sophia Taia.

"There is no need to point the finger or threaten them because, at the end of the day, we need their service for a safe and better Samoa. Police officers have families too, who are waiting for them to come home. I am the daughter of a police officer, and I am worried about my dad.

"I see these people posting about police officers and it breaks my heart. They don't see how much they sacrifice to serve them. Let's pray for peace and harmony for our Samoa."

Some have shared the same sentiment as Ms Taia as they saw how some people were supporting the post made by a keyboard warrior on Thursday evening. They said the officers at the Ministry were there for a purpose.

"We all have our purposes in life, our callings may be different but we are all serving our purpose. The police took an oath to serve Samoa to ensure the safety of the community, and that's exactly what they are doing," said Tim Tomasi.

"I know our people are saying this because of their political affiliations but please let's not politicise everything. We are a nation founded on God, so let's pray for our country.

"The truth will always prevail. Let's just hope our police will be able to clear this case once and for all. It's been going for quite some time now."

Members of the public have high hopes that the Ministry of Police will be able to close this case once and for all. Families fear that there might be a riot or chaos that might arise and it may injure their loved ones.
