Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Laauli Leuatea Schmidt who also serves as the Chairman of the Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (F.A.S.T.) party was officially charged with a series of serious offences.

After a lengthy two-hour session at the police station on Friday morning, Laauli was charged with fabricating evidence, conspiracy to commit an offence, defamation, and harassment via electronic means.

The charges were confirmed by Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo in response to queries from the Samoa Observer. This marks a significant moment in the ongoing investigation.

Laauli is on bail and will appear in court on 4 February to answer the charges.

This latest development has sent shockwaves through the political and public spheres, as questions arise about the potential implications for the F.A.S.T. party and its leadership.

Further updates are expected as the case progresses.
