Samoa Racing Club donates to Home of Elderly
The Samoa Racing Club (SRC), one of the country's oldest organisations in Samoa, visited the Home of the Elderly at Mapuifagalele on Thursday morning bearing good tidings for the aged care facility.
The President of the Horse race club, Tuilaepa Peter Rash together with some of the SRC members gave a donation to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
It has been a long standing tradition and responsibility of the club to always give back to the community.
"It's not a profitable organisation but how much we get we try to always give to Mapuifagalele, after each race we donate at least $2,000 tala," Tuilaepa said.
"It has been more than 10 yrs since we've had this partnership with Mapuifagalele. It's a great feeling to support and help in some way, it's not that much but we want to help the sisters and the elderly, to us it is an honor."
Tuilaepa also made mention of their sponsors, saying they are deeply grateful for their contribution, which made the donation possible and thanked the Government of Samoa for giving them such a privilege to continue their hobby of horse racing over the years.
He than welcomed anyone who is willing to also donate to the cause, and indicated that he is keen to continuing this long standing tradition of the club.
Their next upcoming race will be held around the Christmas season and everyone is invited to Tuanaimato to see the horse-racing eee
Sister Josephine received the donation on behalf of the Home of the Elderly and expressed her utmost gratitude to the SRC for their constant help over the years.
"We are always glad to receive donations and we will always make sure that this goes in to good use. We have some much that we need help with and every little bit helps," Sister Josephine said.
"They have been coming several years and the fact that they always remember us is a blessing."
