CONTRADICTORY

Australian government media’s behaviour contradicts what their government is saying about regionalism. The PM’s media did not think it right to invite local media when their PM was being given a ‘Samoan’ matai title.

TRAVEL AGAIN

A cabinet may be flying out of the country this week. The overseas travel by the government only ceased during the week of CHOGM. A Japan Pacific Business Summit is on in Fiji.

SAY THANKS

The prime minister has said it was everyone’s effort for a successful CHOGM. The government should thank the nation in a formal announcement or consider a public holiday.

HIGH AND DRY

Savaii hotels were left high and dry. After spending weeks of planning and days of preparing, the leaders’ spouse event did not eventuate. Many hotels did their best with food and performances.

STILL WORKING

The civilian police officers engaged in the big event are still working. They have been told their services will not be required only after all guests leave the island.

ELECTRIC

It will be interesting to see how the 76 electrical vehicles that were brought in for CHOGM are used. Let us hope they do not end next to the buses in Ululoloa.
