Public welcome mass vaccination
Tele Taofinuu, 48, Faleasiu-Uta
"It is a very important program for Samoa and its prevention of disease. About my own family, only my wife that took the first dose, I rejected because there is a big question on my mind like this. Why are we vaccinating adults only but not our children? Will the COVID-19 only affect adults when it enters Samoa? The answer is no, everyone will be affected including our children. And I’m telling you, I don’t want to see my children suffer from coronavirus while I’m safe and protected. It should be everyone especially children get vaccinated and leave adults alone because they've lived their lives and their time on earth is nearly finished, but save children as they are the future of our country."
Fauatea Gao’a, 63, Tufulele
"There is no excuse to not get affected if the pandemic strikes and enters our land and when it comes, who else will we blame? It is a must and we should stand together and be vaccinated while we have the time. My wife and my family have completed our first dose and we are waiting for our second dose. I have a big family, I have children from Savai'i as well, and I hope that my whole family will be vaccinated quickly by these campaign."
Rasela Schwalger, 51, Tuanai
"Good health is everyone’s responsibility and no one wants to get sick and die soon. I’m thankful to the Ministry of Health for the program to prevent Samoa from harm. As always, prevention is better than cure. When we look at television on how bad the pandemic is in Fiji and other Pacific islands and it is a worrying sign for all of us. So we need to make the right choice and be vaccinated to protect us all."
Malutupua Mikaio, 49, Leauvaa
"I support the campaign and I strongly agree with the plan to cover every house and family as soon as possible. When we look at Fiji Island, the virus is hard to control because of lack of vaccinated people and no restrictions imposed by the Government. To be honest, we are so lucky, we are still safe because of the loving hand and the blessing of our dear Father in Heaven. So please Samoa, don’t underestimate the wellbeing we have now but get vaccinated and keep praying. My family completed the first dose and we await our second dose."
Gaoa Semi, 56, Tuanai
"It is not an easy pandemic because it took millions and millions of lives and definitely we don’t want that to happen to our love ones and our people. The program by the Ministry of Health is a very important move to push hard to peoples home to make sure we put the safety first to the lives of our people. We only hope that the community will support the program because we know Samoa, no matter how hard we try to do a good thing, Satan will never asleep and try to destruct some beautiful programs we need to be done. So please Samoa, keep us all safe by making your vaccination shot."
Serafina Felaia’i, 63, Levi-Saleimoa
"The majority of my family completed their two doses but for me, I didn’t get my first shot. The reason is because I was sick with my stomach for seven month, I wasn’t able to move, I was just lying down hard to turn, and my legs were painful and hurt. But I am grateful and very thankful to our God for his healing so that I can walk and work again. So the program by the M.O.H. is a useful campaign, I want to do my shot at home because I’m a little nervous getting sick after my vaccination. But I have a strong faith that I will get my first shot safely from this program. I’m just saying, I only wish we can do it on Sunday because everyone will be at home resting from work. But it's okay nothing is more important than worshiping God and keep it Holy."
Sineva Tevaga, 60, Falelauniu
"I support the program although I didn’t get my first shot. My daughter was having her first dose at Matagialalua and we rush back to the hospital because she wasn’t feeling good with her hand, her leg, and the side of her head hurting. That makes me feel uncomfortable about the safety of these vaccinations. But it's been a while since we started the vaccination in our country and no one has been hurt badly so hopefully the campaign will allow us to do our first dose at home with my whole family."
Faaumu Ta’ilesolo, 56, Samusu Aleipata
"This is the program that should have been done ages ago when the vaccine arrived in the first place. If we look at it we are from the rural area and Savaii people as well are still waiting but only the people live in Apia town area who were forced to do their vaccination. But the program should move and start from all the four corners of the country, not only Apia, but Savai'i, Manono and Apolima. So I support the program, and I’m begging our people to put a red flags or sign in front of your house to tell the Ministry that you need the vaccine. It’s our chance to save our money for travel fares but use the government money to support us."
