Evita Levi, 28, Afega

“I am going to surprise my Dad. I just want to thank God for another day added to his life and for being a good father to me, our family and to my kids. The gift I have prepared for Father’s Day is a nice shirt for him to wear to church.”

MJ Vaituliao, 20, Saleimoa

“My gift to my Dad is to be very obedient to him. It’s very important to be obedient and listen to his instructions. I may not have a gift to give but I pray that he is blessed with many years to be with us on this earth. I love my Dad so much because he is not too hard on me. He is always happy with me and he has never laid a hand on me. I know that he is happy and that is as long as we do our chores and obey him.”

Paulina Taavao, 37, Afega

“I think that the young fathers of this generation do not think it’s important to celebrate Father’s Day and I know that as long as they can get something to drink they’ll be satisfied with that. There are families out there that don’t have much and even for myself, my gift to my father is to care for him until the end and the only thing I need to do is to make sure that I do a good job.”

Tevaga Faaloa Feepo, 42, Toamua

“Happy Father’s Day to all fathers and God bless you all. This day is to mark the one day for all our fathers, a memento to all our fathers. It’s like a one day millionaire day to all our fathers. My message to all our fathers is to be more patient, refrain from fighting and pray every day.”

Elia Jr Elia, 33, Solosolo

“I would like to be with my Dad and do everything for him. Cheers and good luck to all the fathers out there. I came to town today to buy a gift for my Dad and this is an opportunity for me to bless my Dad and I want to praise God for that. My Dad is everything to me; he has always looked after us. Everything that my father does, he has done for me and my siblings, thank you Dad.”

Iosefo Tumanuvao, 29, Poutasi

“It has been more than eight months since I returned from my seasonal work and just in time to be with my Dad before I leave on Saturday. When I go back to work this can be a gift to bless my Dad with a new house or a car or anything for Father’s day. This is my gift for my Dad. A lesson for all the young father’s out there is to work while you have the strength and time to or as the Samoan proverb goes ‘Galulue magu o Ao’ because there is no use moving when you don’t have enough strength to provide for your family.”
