Seleagaia committed to serving Samoa
Seleagaia Toluiva Keneti-Alapati is a woman of service, and she is first Samoan woman to be appointed as the National Development Manager for the Oceania region.
She hails from Mulivai Safata, Tafitoala, Salailua and Safotu. She's a former student of St Mary's College and Samoa College.
"As a village daughter, it means embracing the responsibility to serve God rather than seeking to be served, so it is my humble service," she said.
"I am committed to serving Samoa, inspired by the women who came before me and laid the groundwork for this journey. I want to express my gratitude to Lakapi Samoa and Oceania Rugby for placing their trust in me for this role.
"I am fortunate to be surrounded by supportive male champions and incredible women, both on and off the field. I will continue empowering others, particularly women in rugby, to grow and thrive in a safer and enjoyable environment, free from all forms of violence."
Seleagaia has been with Lakapi Samoa for over a decade and continues to be a game-changer, empowering communities and breaking barriers for women in rugby. She's a former National Coordinator for Get Into Rugby Plus Samoa and Grassroots to Global delegate.
As an advocate for gender equality ending to violence against women and girls, Toluiva has played a pivotal role in the development of the safeguarding and protection training programme launched four years ago in partnership with Lakapi Samoa supported by Oceania Rugby, UN Women through the Pacific Partnership to End Violence Against Women and Girls (Pacific Partnership), Team Up, Child Fund, the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development, and other key stakeholders.
