Toa Samoa's test match against was shifted because of the NRL season and not because of Stephen Crichton's wedding said the President of Samoa Rugby League.

Fiu Faaolatane Ponifasio Vasa cleared the air on speculations on social media on the selection and cancellation of matches for Toa Samoa.

"The NRL season has not ended yet, we have not selected a team yet but perhaps someone has already done it. At the moment, our team will be camping on 18 October for one day then flies out to Britain," he said.

"Their first game is on the 27th, and second game is on 2 November.

"Our prayers and hope is that our previous players will stay on the team. However, it is really up to the decision of a player and we as executives have to respect the decisions made by the players.

"But the good news is, there are some of our previous players are playing for us again. The selection of the team, that is the responsibility of the coach and his management."

"The dates for the Toa Samoa games have long been set. The rumours in regards to the postponement of the match because of Stephen Crichton's wedding is not true. The game will still push through as planned. The reasons for the changes really is that the NRL season is still on, it is set to end on 6 October."

He said there were other factors that come into play such as injuries, team celebrations, and many others. Fiu said that negotiations were done ages ago so the game will push through as planned.
