Eight teams including First Nation Australia have secured quarter-final spots at the Vodafone Teuila International 7s being played at Apia Park.

Marist St Joseph's, Marist Rugby Club, First Nation Australia, Uso Satalo, Tepatasi, Siumu, Laumua o Tumua Afega, and Laulii have advanced to the knockout stage.

It was a successful start with some great rugby shown by the six women's teams and the 16 men's teams.

Before the first match between Marist St Joseph's and Marist Rugby Club, a moment of silence was observed for the passing of Leituala Oliver Joseph Chan Ting. 

Marist St Joseph's, Taumeasina Island Resort Moataa, St Mary's Satitoa, and Marist Rugby Club were in Pool A. Pool B had Laumua o Tumua Afega, Matniuel Laulii Lions, Vaiala Ulalei, and Lupe o le Saga Maagiagi.

Tepatasi, Siumu, SCB Apia Maroons, and Saleimoa were in Pool C while BBE Vaiala, HJ Keil Vaimoso, Uso Satalo, and First Nations Australia made up Pool D.

In the women's, Striders, Gorgeous Teine, and Marist Rugby Club were in Pool A while No Idea, SCB Apia Maroons, and Australia Dev 7s were in Pool B.

With the conclusion of day 1, the top two teams for each pool will advance to the quarter finals for the Cup. The eight teams that have secured their spot in the Cup quarterfinals are
