Bank gives $15K for 7s tournament

BSP Samoa gave $15,000 in sponsorship for the third Mataniufeagaimaleata Sapapalii International 7s tournament, which is set to take place this weekend at Sapapalii, Savaii. 

This marks the second consecutive year that BSP has sponsored the event. 

“At BSP, we’re passionate about empowering communities through sports, and we couldn’t be more excited to support an event that brings people together in such a meaningful way,” said Jennifer Ula-Fruean, Country Manager of BSP.

BSP is contributing $15,000 to the tournament with $10,000 in cash and $5,000 in-kind support. The sponsorship was officially presented by Jennifer Ula-Fruean, and was received by Papalii Namulauulu Sami Leota, the Chairman of the Mataniufeagaimaleata Sapapalii 7s organising committee.

In her statement, Jennifer highlighted BSP’s dedication to community engagement.

"We are incredibly proud to be a part to be part of the Mataniufeagaimaleata Sapapalii International 7s again this year, which not only showcases incredible rugby talent but also brings together communities from across Samoa and beyond. This event is a beacon of sportsmanship and unity, and we are excited to play a part in its continued success."

Papalii, also expressed deep appreciation for the sponsorship, emphasizing.

"This partnership with BSP is invaluable to the success of our tournament. Their support will help us elevate the event to new heights, ensuring a memorable experience for all participants and spectators," he said.

"The Mataniufeagaimaleata Sapapalii International 7s is one of the most anticipated events in Samoa’s rugby calendar, drawing teams from across the region to compete in a celebration of skill, sportsmanship, and community spirit. 

"This year’s tournament is set to be bigger and better than ever before, with two overseas teams featuring the Men’s Open division for the first time. Additionally, the tournament will expand to include the Under-18 Boys and Girls division, promising an exciting and diverse showcase of rugby talent across the region."
