Netball Samoa office temporarily relocated
Netball Samoa has temporarily relocated its headquarters to make way for the Office of the Electoral Commission to set up its operations centre at the Multisport Complex, ahead of the April 9 General Elections.
The Netball Samoa C.E.O. Rosemarie Lome confirmed the temporary relocation of their office on Tuesday in an interview with the Samoa Observer.
"The venues being used for the Office of the Electoral Commissioner Headquarters for what I understand they are using it for their operations and preparations for the General Election," she said.
"At the moment because we haven't got our gym, we are using the opportunity where we can go out to schools, go out to the communities and do programs within the communities instead of them coming over to Upolu.”
Emphasising that their temporary relocation is a blessing in disguise for her and her executives, Mrs Lome said it was an opportunity for them to reach out to the community through their programs including Savai’i.
"We are using this opportunity to go out to the schools and have our clinics, and also we will be using the opportunity to go to Savai’i and do programs with schools in Savai’i,” she added.
“We will be spending three days in Savai’i and then come back. The purpose is to start a small development program in Savai’i.
“We can identify key champions in Savai’i who can work together with the office to try and do the same programs that are done here in Upolu.”
The netball office doesn’t expect their temporary relocation to impact their current programs, according to Mrs Lome and will boost the sport to lead its expansion.
"When term two of the school year starts after easter, we'll be back at the aquatic center on the 26th April and then we start our programs, for term two we will kick off with three schools for Mumsnet," she said.
Election-related paraphernalia were seen at the Multisport Complex on Tuesday when this newspaper visited the premises.
It is understood the Netball Samoa office has been temporarily relocated to the Samoa Sports Facilities Authority office at the Faleata Sports Complex.
