Chief Justice evacuated for medical treatment
The Former Chief Justice of Samoa, Patu Falefatu Sapolu, has been evacuated to New Zealand for medical treatment.
It is not known what condition the former Chief Justice is receiving treatment for.
But it is understood that preparations were made for him to undergo medical evacuation but instead, he took an Air New Zealand flight last week.
It is understood that Patu was accompanied by his wife, Tuitama Iliganoa Sapolu.
As Chief Justice, Patu served as head of the Judiciary for 26 years and nine months, making him the longest-serving jurist to occupy that position in the nation's history.
It has not been possible to seek a comment from Patu at this time. But he is understood to be receiving treatment at Auckland Hospital.
Contacted for comment, a member of Patu's family declined.
