The Robert Louis Stevenson School at Tafa'igata launched a garden project on Friday, to encourage students to live heathy during COVID-19.

The College celebrated two main events on Friday: their Arts Festival and the launch of their gardens to end the third term.

The garden project was a shared project between two of the Form 4 classes. Vice-Principal, Masa Fa’asau, said the classes will beautify the college premises as well.

“One garden is the Peace Garden by Form 4 PF and the other one is a vegetable garden by Form 4 RN," she said.

“And they have planted cabbages, corn, and tomatoes in the vegetable garden.”

Ms. Faasau said that the vegetable garden is all to do with learning to live and cope with the challenges of COVID-19 where students are encouraged to grow their own food at home.

Students can decide whether they want to take the harvested crops home or sell it to generate some money.

According to Ms. Fa'asau, the gardening project is an after school activity for Form 4 students. She also thanked the parents for their continuous support and contribution to the garden project.

“They contributed the flowers and plants but one parent, in particular, her time and effort was spent to help the students with the garden,” she added. “She’s a well-known gardener in Samoa, Ms. Avarua Laulala, she helped to landscape the garden.”
