A former Toa Samoa prop, Tagaloa Maugaloto Palu, will have his trial before the Supreme Court in seven months, after he pleaded not guilty to charges against him.

Tagaloa appeared before Chief Justice Satiu Simativa Perese this week to set a hearing date for his trial.

He pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted murder, one count of being armed with a dangerous weapon and two counts of causing grievous bodily harm.

Represented by lawyer, Leota Tima Leavai, the former Toa Samoa player is accused of attacking two people with a machete at the Savalalo fish market.

The complainants allegedly sustained serious injuries with the incident being captured on video and shared on social media by a witness.

Justice Satiu adjourned the matter for trial on 6 April 2020.

Tagaloa is released on bail with conditions to sign in at the police station.
