Rain warning issued
Samoa was last night bracing for a wet start to the week.
A heavy rain advisory is in effect for all of Samoa due to an active convergence zone, a system which is highly likely to upgrade to intensify and bring scattered rain, the Meteorology Office warned on late Sunday.
The convergence zone is associated with a massive cloud band embedded with heavy rain and thunderstorms and remains in the vicinity of Samoa.
"This system is expected to intensify and bring scattered rain with heavy falls possible," a statement from the Samoa Meteorology Division said the Samoa Meteorology Division.
"Therefore, the Heavy Rain Advisory is now in effect with the arrival of the convergence zone.
"Meanwhile, the system is expected to move Northwards by tomorrow evening."
The public is advised to look out for potentially heavy downpours with poor visibility, gusty winds, foggy and slippery roads over mountain passes and ranges, pooling near roadsides and waterways.
