There will be temporary changes to the flow of traffic for vehicles visiting the Fiame Mataafa Faumuina Mulinuu II (F.M.F.M.II) Building effective Monday, May 18. 

The revised flow of traffic was highlighted in a public notice issued by the Apia Waterfront Development Project.

The changes are due to the closure of access on the Eastern side of the F.M.F.M.II Building and the parking area between the F..M.F.M.II Building and the Samoa Tourism Authority cultural village at Eleele Fou.

The temporary changes to the flow of traffic starting Monday will include: all private vehicles dropping off or picking up passengers from the F.M.F.M.II Building are to use the ramp to the main foyer, and vehicles must enter from the western ramp and exit from the eastern ramp.

“The access on the Western side of the building will be restricted to Ministers and F.M.F.M.II Building Tenants official vehicles only,” read the notice.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We advise for all motorist and pedestrians to please adhere to traffic control and safety signage and personnel directing traffic on site. 

“We appreciate your patience while we make improvements to our waterfront.” 

The project seeks to transform the City of Apia's Waterfront into an urban recreational attraction for both visitors and locals alike.

The Government of Samoa is currently preparing a long-term strategic plan for the City of Apia’s waterfront area. 

The plan will be developed in collaboration with government, community and private sector stakeholders.

It will be informed by best practice urban planning and design principles, allowing opportunities for the waterfront area to be developed into a unique public space and tourist attraction facility unlike any other in the Pacific region.
