A 52-year-old man died in Savai’i last Friday as a result of a car crash.
Deputy Police Commissioner, Papali'i Monalisa Tiai-Keti, confirmed the fatality in response to questions from the Samoa Observer.
“(I) confirm a traffic accident in Savaii on Friday (last week) resulted in the death of a 52 year old man,” she said.
The 52-year-old man was the driver of the crashed vehicle and was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, according to Papalii. An investigation is currently underway into the death.
Asked whether the Police have made any progress in their investigation, Papali'i advised in her email response that an inquest is scheduled for next month.
