The Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services (SPPCS) is offering a cash reward for anyone who provides information that leads to the capture of escapee Lauititi Tualima.

According to the latest release issued by SPPCS, they are still searching for this prisoner who escaped on 23 January at around 7pm from Tanumalala Prison.

"We urge the public to exercise caution and not to approach the individual. If seen, report his whereabouts immediately to the nearest police station or contact police headquarters at 22222," SPPCS said.

"A monetary reward will be offered to any individual who provides credible information leading to his successful capture. All information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality."

Tualima is considered dangerous. During his last escape in 2015, he tied up an Australian couple and raped the woman in front of her husband.

Last week, police found clothes belonging to Tualima near the Sheraton Mulifanua Beach Resort.

The SPPCS said they have received numerous phone calls and messages from members of the public inquiring about the search.

“Your support has been crucial and we encourage you to remain vigilant and report any further sightings immediately to the Police on 22222 or the Prisons Service at 23516.”

“We are deeply grateful for the assistance and information provided by the public so far."
