People gear up for Independence celebrations
Excitement continues to grow around town as preparations for Samoa’s Independence celebrations move ahead, with workers, villages, and businesses working together to make the occasion memorable for the nation.

Workers from OTT Construction have been busy preparing different areas for the upcoming celebrations, making sure everything is ready for the big occasion. Despite the long hours, workers remained positive and focused as they carried out their duties.

Workers shared that being part of the preparations was an honour for them. Samu Timoteo, one of the workers, said that “Independence Day is more than just a celebration, it is a reminder of Samoa’s history, unity, and freedom”. According to him, “helping prepare the town for such an important national event makes us feel proud to contribute to the country in our own way”.

Another worker, Henry Alo, mentioned that “We wanted everything to look beautiful for the people of Samoa and for visitors coming to witness the celebrations. Everyone involved was working together with one goal to make Independence celebrations memorable and successful for the nation”.

The atmosphere around town reflected teamwork, patriotism, and community spirit as preparations continued for one of Samoa’s most meaningful national celebrations.
Villages around town were seen hanging flags along the roads, while the stage in front of the Government Building had already been set up for the variety show hosted by the STA. Decorative flags were also being put up by SignsStudio Samoa as decorations continued across town.
At Sogi, eight fale Samoa were built as part of the Independence preparations, while a new walkway was also built in front of the Sheraton hotel. Flags and decorations around town continued to showcase the spirit of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
