Digicel Pacific Group has appointed Tim Bryson as its new Head of External Affairs, strengthening the company’s leadership in government relations and regional stakeholder engagement across the Pacific.

The announcement was made on Thursday, 21 May, with the company saying the appointment will strengthen its work in government relations, stakeholder engagement, and external affairs across Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Pacific Hub markets.

Bryson brings more than 20 years of experience in mining, diplomacy, and Australian federal politics. He previously led external engagement for Newmont in Australia and Papua New Guinea, served in diplomatic roles in Papua New Guinea, and worked as Chief of Staff to Australia’s Minister for International Development.

In that role, he advised on major regional issues, including decisions linked to Telstra’s acquisition of Digicel Pacific.

Chief Executive Officer of Telstra International, Roary Stasko, said Bryson brings strong experience in government relations, diplomacy, and corporate affairs.

“He has worked closely with governments, regulators, and industry partners in complex environments and understands the Pacific region well,” Stasko said.

Bryson said Digicel Pacific plays an important role in connecting people and communities across Papua New Guinea and the Pacific.

“Having grown up in Papua New Guinea, the region has always been personally meaningful to me,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to Digicel Pacific as it continues to support development across the region.”
