Samoa Law Society to marks golden jubilee
The Samoa Law Society is preparing to celebrate its 50th anniversary, a milestone celebration for recognising five decades of service to Samoa’s legal profession and justice system.
The celebration will also see the courts observe a week-long holiday, allowing all members and the judicial bench to be part of the anniversary.
Held under the theme “Honouring Our Heritage, Shaping Tomorrow”, the golden jubilee will bring together members of the legal community to celebrate the Society’s legacy and consider the profession’s future pathway.
"Over the past 50 years, the Samoa Law Society has played an important role in supporting professional standards, advocating for the rule of law, strengthening the administration of justice and contributing to the development of Samoa’s legal landscape," said SLS in a statement.
The anniversary brings an opportunity to reflect on the people, values and institutions that have shaped the profession across generations.
The celebrations are expected to feature a commemorative symposium in August alongside cultural and social events, creating space for professional dialogue, reflection and fellowship within the wider legal community.
"The anniversary is intended not only as a celebration of the Society’s achievements but also as a chance to acknowledge the evolving role of lawyers in Samoa and the profession’s continuing responsibility to uphold justice, integrity and public service," said SLS.
"Chaired by Peseta Salma Hazelman, the organising committee is coordinating a programme to strengthen the profession and build the next generation of Samoan legal leaders.
"The 50th anniversary marks a significant chapter for the Samoa Law Society as it honours its history while looking ahead to the future of the legal profession in Samoa."
