Thursday power outage to impact 15 villages

Residents and businesses in several areas around Apia will experience a temporary power outage on Thursday as the Electric Power Corporation (EPC) conducts scheduled maintenance on the electricity network.
The outage is scheduled for Thursday, 14 May, from 11 am to 5 pm, and will affect Puipa’a, Toamua, Saina, Vaitele, parts of Siusega and Elise Fou, Tanugamanono, Magiagi Tai, Magiagi Uta, Fagalii, Vailele, Letogo, Vaivase Uta, Tanoaleia and Avele.
"These works involve the repair and replacement of damaged power pole components, as well as trimming and clearing trees affecting power lines, to ensure public safety and improve the reliability of electricity services," said EPC.
According to an official notice issued by EPC, the planned maintenance work includes the installation of a new transformer, the installation of new high-voltage poles, the replacement of damaged low-voltage poles, and the clearing and trimming of trees that affect power lines.
EPC said the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to improve the reliability and safety of the electricity network. Customers in the affected areas are advised to make the necessary preparations ahead of the scheduled outage.
The corporation thanked the public for its patience and understanding during the maintenance period.
