Repair work on the main Siusega road is continuing again, just weeks after it was fixed last month. The road was flooded as a result of heavy rainfall, which has added to the damage.

Workers were seen on Wednesday carrying out repairs along the road, working to fix potholes and damaged areas.

The repairs follow ongoing complaints from residents, who said the road had become unsafe and difficult to use due to large potholes. Some community members had even filled potholes themselves, saying there was no quick response from authorities.

Residents earlier described the road as frustrating and unsafe. Frequent road user Maria Tuifua said driving along the road was difficult. Bus driver Tui Sanele said potholes made trips uncomfortable for passengers. Resident Litia Faasoa also raised concerns about safety during rain, when potholes were hard to see.

Resident Peni Tupu, who usually passes by the road, said the damage may be caused by weather conditions. “Maybe it is the weather that is causing the road to be damaged again,” he said.

Residents say conditions have now improved, with smoother and safer travel. However, they are calling for regular maintenance to make sure the problem does not return.

“We are happy the potholes are being fixed, but we hope it will last,” Faasoa said.

The ongoing work has brought relief to the Siusega community, with hopes that other damaged roads will also be repaired soon.
