Four youths have been charged in connection with the assault of two students in Vaimoso on Friday afternoon. The incident was caught on video and circulated widely on social media.

The Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services (SPPCS) confirmed the suspects had been identified and charged following investigations.

Police acknowledged the assistance of community leaders in resolving the case.

“Police acknowledge and extend special thanks to the Mayor and the Matai/Chiefs of Vaimoso for their support and assistance in helping Police bring the suspects in for questioning,” the police statement said.

Authorities also thanked members of the public who provided information through email and the Samoa Police Facebook page, which helped advance the investigation.

Two students from Don Bosco Technical College and Pesega College were assaulted by a group of boys on Friday evening near Tavita’s Shop in Vaimoso.

According to the students, the group whistled at them before surrounding Tom Too, a 16-year-old Don Bosco student, and accusing him of being involved in another incident, which he denied. The situation escalated when one of the boys punched him.

Too said his cousin, Tini Jr Ah See, a 14-year-old Grade 10 student at Pesega College, stepped in to help, allowing him to run while Ah See fought back.

Ah See said several boys then turned on him during the fight. He tried to run but struggled because he was wearing his school uniform, and later tripped and fell onto the footpath, where part of the altercation was captured on video and circulated on social media as cars stopped and went to help the Pesega student

The incident has raised concerns in the community, particularly as it follows another serious assault involving a student last year.

In October 2025, 17-year-old Blessing Fale, a student from Maluafou College, was brutally attacked and left in critical condition with severe head injuries and was at the hospital  for months

Police reminded the public that such behaviour is unacceptable and can lead to serious consequences, urging young people to respect one another and resolve disagreements peacefully.

“Samoa Police remain committed to ensuring the safety of our communities and will continue to take action against unlawful behaviour,” the statement said.
