A 22-year-old stabbing victim from Tapatapao is recovering well at the Acute Seven Ward of the Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital, Samoa Observer can reveal.

The young man was seriously injured following a stabbing incident last Saturday in Aleisa outside a shop known as a drinking spot for youths.

Tali Metuli said his relative who works at a shop at Aleisa which is close to the crime scene, had already gone through surgery on Sunday and had been transferred to Acute Seven at the TTM Hospital from the Intensive Care Unit where he was first admitted last Saturday night.

Another relative who did not want to be named said their family had not been notified by police on what transpired and who the suspects were.

"All I know is that my nephew came to this shop to buy some groceries and alcohol and he was attacked by some men on his way home," she said.

"This is the problem with youth who consume alcohol nowadays, a lot of incidents have occurred and their lives are at risk because of not drinking responsibly."

The relative said she didn't know why Solosolo village was mentioned in a story and the reports from the police but her nephew has been residing at Tapatapao for long.

"Of course, his mother is from Solosolo but they have been staying at Tapatapao for many years," she said.

The relative said she saw the disturbing photos of her nephew's injuries including the blade of a knife used to stab him on the night of the incident.

"It's very disturbing, the whole blade was inserted in his left shoulder and we thanked God for His healing mercies on my nephew for he is recovering well at the hospital," the relative said.

Attempts to get a comment from Police Commissioner Auapa'au Logoitino Filipo about an update on the incident were unsuccessful.

Two weeks ago another similar incident occurred at Vaitele-Fou where four young men were stabbed by another man who was with a drunken friend on the night of the stabbing.

These four victims are recovering from all the injuries they sustained from the stabbing.

It was reported by an eyewitness that he saw a sober young man stabbing the four men who attacked his drunken friend.
