Different reactions were echoed by members of the public about the current political turmoil in parliament.

An orator, Puata Viane Savelio told Samoa Observer that it is very sad to see the situation faced by the parliamentarians of Samoa.

He said the only solution for this tension is for them to all go back to election.

"It is very sad to see what is now going on in Parliament and I know this is the only solution to it is for the Head of State to declare a snap election," he said.

A matai, Taveuveu Faitala echoed the same reaction. He said the members of parliament should all go back to election and let the people decide for themselves they want in parliament.

"As a Samoan I'm so sad to see what's happening with politics now, it's very embarrassing and at the same time very disappointing," he said.

"I did not think that it will reach this stage especially the tension between the two factions of Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi party."

Tuiloma Agaalii Liliva had a different view on the current turmoil in parliament.

He said the two factions of FAST Party should come together and talk things out.

"They should reconcile and talk about the differences arising in their political party so that they will reunite and agree on the same thing rather than argue in parliament," he said.

Tuiloma said this was the first time in the history of parliament that this kind of conflict aros.

"The world is watching and it's embarrassing to see that it has reach to this stage where the government of day walked out from parliament because of not trusting the Speaker of the House," he added.

A mother who is also a teacher, Ana Agaalii said the FAST Party should have a reconciliation and that would be the only answer to the current turmoil.

She said they should discuss, talk and come up with a solution to this conflict between them.

"The country is waiting to see what they are doing as leaders of not only Samoa but each constituencies, and it's very hard to witness the ugly tensions between them," she said.

Parliament is to reconvene on Monday and it's not sure what will happen after Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa and her cabinet walked out of parliament after a motion of no confidence for the Speaker of the House Papalii Lio Taeu Masipau was rejected.
