Airport pays $2.4M dividend
The Samoa Airport Authority (SAA) announced a profit of $7.4 million and paid a dividend of $2.4 million to the government on Wednesday.
The dividend was 35 per cent of audited net profits for the financial year 2023-2024.
On Wednesday, the office of the Minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure, Minister Olo handed over a cheque of $2, 452,857.75 to the Minister of Public Enterprises Leatinu’u reflecting the authority’s dividend for that financial year.
According to a statement from the General Manager of SAA Tumanuvao Evile Falefatu, SAA for the year 2023 reported a profit of $6.6 million and then achieved $7.4 million in 2024.
“We are pleased to announce that in 2024, the SAA achieved a remarkable profit,” said the statement.
“Despite the ongoing developments at Faleolo International Airport, the SAA has managed to secure its highest profit to date, reinforcing our commitment to our vision of transforming Faleolo International Airport.”
Tumanuvao extended his heartfelt gratitude to the people of Samoa for their unwavering support throughout this journey.
Minister for Public Enterprise Leatinu’u expressed appreciation to the chair of the Board of Directors, members of the board, general manager, management and staff for the efforts leading to the 35 per cent dividend the authority has managed to hand over.
He said the money will go towards the work of the government and will assist in the national budget.
Olo thanked the chair Leiataua Isikuki Punivalu, board members, Tumanuvao, management and the staff for their hard work.
