The minister does not investigate reports, it is the duty of the Samoa Police said the Minister of Police and Prisons Faualo Harry Schuster responding to what he says are false statements from a sacked cabinet minister.

Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molioob had claimed that Faualo was conveniently asked to leave the country while Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa took charge of the police and this led to charges being laid against Fa'atuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party Chairman La'auli Leuatea Schmidt.

She had allegedly claimed that very little was done by the cabinet to stop the charges against Laauli.

Faualo clarified that his travel abroad had nothing to do with the charges on Laauli. He said he travelled to New Zealand for a holiday during the festive season to visit family and had declared a conflict of interest a long time ago.

In responding to questions from Samoa Observer, Faualo explained that the accusations by Mulipola were not true.

"La'auli is my uncle and Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi is also a relative so I cannot get involved in the investigations of this matter," Faualo said.

"The probe was handed over to the Police Commissioner and the police to conduct, I don't investigate the matters."

The Minister of Police went on and explained that what Mulipola has claimed is wrong and he knows these are political motives to make him look bad.

"I just want to clarify that because I cannot get involved in an investigation where both parties are my relatives and please I don't do investigations it's the police that do it," he said.

The claims were made by Mulipola right after she and other ministers were dismissed from their ministerial posts.

The Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party have also removed Prime Minister Fiame, Deputy Prime Minister Tuala Tevaga Ponifasio, Olo Afoa Fiti Vaai, Leatinu'u Wayne Fong, Toeolesulusulu Cedric Schuster and Faualo from the party.

Faualo claims that the move was unlawful and unconstitutional and they are and still will be loyal members of FAST political party.
