New leaders of Am. Samoa sworn-in
American Samoa welcomed its newly elected leaders as Governor Pulaalii Nikolao Pula and Lieutenant Governor Pulu Ae Ae Jr were officially sworn into office during a solemn and celebratory inauguration ceremony held at Malaeoletalu, Fagatogo on 3 January.
The event which drew a large crowd marked the beginning of their four-year term leading the American Samoa Government.
The ceremony saw the presence of distinguished guests from Samoa, including Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata'afa, accompanied by her Cabinet Ministers.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, leaders of Samoa’s Opposition party, including Tuilaepa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, Lauofo Pierre Lauofo, and other members of the Human Rights Protection Party, also attended the historic event.
Their attendance underscored the close diplomatic and cultural ties between the two Samoas.
In a statement from the new administration's office, Governor Pulaalii extended heartfelt gratitude to his predecessor, former Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga, acknowledging his administration's contributions and the smooth transition of power despite a constrained timeline.
Following the inauguration, a formal Governor’s State Dinner and Ball was hosted at the Lee Auditorium in Utulei, attended by key political figures, dignitaries, and community leaders. The celebrations continued with a Sunday Church Service at E.F.K.A.S. Fagatogo, where prayers were offered for the success of the new administration.
Governor Pulaalii and Lieutenant Governor Pulu Ae Ae Jr have outlined their vision for American Samoa, emphasising unity, transparent governance, and effective service delivery for the people. As they embark on this new journey, they reiterated their commitment to fostering progress and ensuring a brighter future for all American Samoans.
