An anthem to honour Palisi
Despite not being born in Palisi, John Voa Amituana'i said he wanted to use his gift as a singer to compose an anthem for Palisi to remember his Palisi journey.
According to Amituana'i, he was introduced to composing and singing in 2017 when he composed songs for his first album launched in 2019.
"I moved to Palisi in 1992 when I was only 10 years old. I started singing and writing music in 2017 which was mostly Gospel music. It was put together by Romeo Samoa of Dr Rome Productions at the end of 2019," he said.
"But I wrote the anthem for Palisi to remember the life I lived here but it is also my way of acknowledging my village of Palisi and our Catholic Church.
"Our village council has done a tremendous job in keeping our village safe and secure throughout the years. As you may know, in Palisi there are a lot of different people staying here. From different parts of Samoa but have settled in Palisi, our village can keep our community safe and family-oriented due to the efforts and hard work of our village mayor and committee."
He mentioned that his new song or the anthem for Palisi was launched on the day of their Thanksgiving mass. According to Amituana'i, it felt right to launch it on that day as the song is his acknowledgement to the people of Palisi.
"I was an altar boy when the first mass happened to open our Catholic Church here in Palisi in 1998. My parents used to serve the Lord through the ministry but they have passed on and are buried here in Palisi along with other church ministers and those who serve the Lord through that line of work."
